Mary Silva, Director
(3 Year Pre Dance, 4/5 Year Pre Dance, 6/7 Year Pre Dance, 8/9 Year
Basic Ballet, Ballet II, III, and IV, Pointe IV, and Jazz I, II, and III. Mary Silva has spent her life involved in dance and dance
education. She studied ballet and jazz dance extensively at
California State university, Fresno, where she received a BA in
Sociology. Some of her most notable teachers have been
professional dancers with New York City Ballet, San Francisco
Ballet, London Royal Ballet, Ballet Russ de Monte Carlo, Ballet
West, and Twyla Tharp Dance Co.
She has performed, choreographed, and taught
dance for the past 30 years and owned studios in Trinity County and South Lake Tahoe,
California.
Before moving to Central Oregon she taught, danced, and
choreographed in Mexico.
Mrs. Silva continues to attend teacher
training programs in the summer including American Ballet Academy,
two sessions of the Russian Vaganova Ballet Method with John White in Philadelphia,
Modern Dance at Bates Dance Festival in
Maine, the Rhythm Tap and Jazz Explosion in Montana, Adult Ballet Dance Camp in Virginia,
and the teacher's training program at Central Pennsylvania Youth
Ballet.
Most recently, she attended the Summer Dance
Institute For Teachers, a two week course on Brain-Compatible Dance
Education presented by Anne Green Gilbert. This is a course
designed for educators, dance teachers, arts specialists, and
therapists who wish to understand the vital link between movement
and cognition.
Nancy Haase
(4/5 Pre Tap, Tap I, II,III, and IV, Ballet I and II) Nancy began her dance training at the age of 5. She has studied
ballet, jazz, and tap at Redmond School of Dance since 1993 and
has been a teacher here since 1997. She has also performed with
local theatre companies. Her most notable teachers include Jeantte
Frame, Brenda Buffalino, Sarah Petronio, Josh Hilberman, Kathrine
Kramer, and Van ‘The Man’ Porter. Her teacher training programs
include Rhythm Explosion in Montana, New York City Dance Alliance
and Manhattan Dance Project conventions, and ‘On Tap’ convention
in Vancouver, B.C.
Ashley Lanier
(Mini Hip Hop, Hip Hop I, II, III, IV)
A teacher at Redmond School of Dance for the
past three years, Ashley brings
fresh ideas and moves to our most popular dance class! She
attends numerous Hip Hop Conventions throughout the year.
Beware; her enthusiasm is contagious!
